The balance between text and media in this place is rather off I suppose. The focus was primarily on textual content, but that doesn’t excuse me entirely from the lack of media here. For now, there is Loveless music available for download. The anime has, besides the stunning graphics, brought forth a nice assemble of music, both vocal as instrumental. I’ve picked out some pieces that I found worth the listen. Also, they give a rather nice interpretation of the series and its characters.
Fidelity — Soubi’s theme (Loveless OST)

Description: the piece starts off dark, anxious and mysterious, then progresses to a stately composition that is slightly reminiscent of Maurice Ravel’s Boléro accompanied by a steady drum beat. Of notice is that over one minute before the end, the music changes into a piano solo that sounds a lot more serene and peaceful. Perhaps by means of telling a turbulent story, but with a happy ending?

Memories — Ritsuka’s theme (Loveless OST)

Description: compared to Soubi’s, Ritsuka’s theme listens as much more beauty and calm. It has a sweet start with a French girl whispering now and then in the background, accompanied by strings, flutes and a trendy beat. Almost half way, there is an angsty orchestral intermission, which after a while turns into the previous flow of melody again. I really like this piece of music, it’s an easy listen and not boring, as you might expect from something that is twice the length of an average song.

Description: Michiyuki is without doubt one of my favourite anime ending themes. The enchantingly beautiful melody represents the series’ mystery very well and I cannot help but be moved by this song, every time I hear it. Highly recommended.

Ordinary Days (Loveless OST)

Description: From the whole CD, I think this is the song I’ve listened to the most. The song does its name justice; both the melody and beat are soothing and carry an easy happiness. It’s a very nice portrayal of what ordinary days in a life could feel like. Though the music does have a tendency towards elevator music (especially the second half), it definitely is worth a listen. — Okay wait, does this now suggest that I like elevator music?..

Blind Hatred (Loveless OST)

Description: This piece of music consists mostly of guitars and has a nice pace to it. Looking at its title, the music itself resembles more like a subdued emotional tone as it is not very loud as one might expect from the name. I wouldn’t have mind if the guitar solo’s in this piece lasted a bit longer, actually.
