Loveless’ story is founded on the mysteries surrounding Seimei’s death and person, the older brother and the one who died tragically two years ago. To Ritsuka he was the perfect and caring brother: being there to look after Ritsuka, to protect Ritsuka, to love Ritsuka in a way their mother couldn’t. However, people that are affiliated with Nanatsu no Tsuki, the organization Seimei was also part of, make notions about him that are in stark contrast with this view. Seimei was someone who obsessed over cleanliness, who couldn’t eat while someone was watching him.
Gradually Seimei’s image becomes a warped mix of both positive as negative impressions. The question remains: who was the real Seimei? And was he really as kind as Ritsuka portrays him? It could be that Seimei developed a strong attachment towards Ritsuka and gave him ’special’ treatment only. The key to these questions about Seimei, turns out to be Soubi.
However, Soubi refuses to talk about anything related to Seimei, especially not to Ritsuka. His relationship as a Fighter with Seimei remains largely unknown. Soubi received orders before Seimei’s death that he would not mention anything to Ritsuka. Soubi as the strict rule follower, keeps anything he has to say about Seimei to himself. Soubi at that time must’ve pulled quite a lot of restraint to not let Ritsuka know about the ’real’ Seimei, as I suspect that Soubi at one point did want Ritsuka to know very badly.
