George Koizumi
George is the male protagonist in the beautiful manga and anime Paradise Kiss by Yazawa Ai.
He’s a very talented designer and student at the Yazawa school of Arts. Because of his good
design skills, he gets to run a little design team. Once in a while his designs are presented
at organized fashion shows.
Independent personality is the label George wears all over; he’s a guy who knows what he wants. George has the fortune
to be blessed with a gentleman’s allure and persuasive manners, and he knows how to use them. As the creative fashion mind he is,
there’s an eccentric edge to both George’s interior as exterior.
Open-minded, intelligent and head strong, George is quite the person to handle.
It’s perhaps these trades that make George seem rather mature for his age, both in vision and action. When it comes to clothes, there is no other
than George who likes to unleash his creativity on himself. Like many who study fashion at the school of Arts, George wears his own designs,
a thing he earns well deserved credits for: this guy knows how to choose his outfits. He always looks stunning and his clothes complement his personality.
George also has a thing for wearing clothes an ’average’ person wouldn’t choose te wear. The line here would be: "hey it looks good on me,
what more is there to be said?" Exactly. All in all, George is an interesting personality, a person who has taken the freedom to live the life
he decided for, and allows nobody to deny him that freedom. Funny, quirky, unique and geared with a box of stylish looks, George is a person
who stands out of the animanga crowd. Oh and it’s really George, like in
Boy George, not
Jouiji.
Paradise Kiss
Paradise Kiss is a shoujo manga by Ai Yazawa comprising 5 volumes. This sweet little masterpiece is set in the fashion design scene. The most
captivating part of the manga series is definitely the wonderful artwork. Every character detail is drawn with care and glamour; nobody
draws trendy fashion creations like Yazawa Ai does. And that’s only the visuals.
The story itself is basically about four friends who have formed a design team, they call it Paradise Kiss. The storyline
starts when they actually want a fifth member in their team; Yukari, the girl they’ve chosen to be the model
for their coming fashion show. Yukari is a regular High School student in her
graduation year, so her joining the team as a model comes with the necessary problems. Eventually, she’ll
have to make a choice between modeling or concentrating on her studies so she can get into a good university.
Add a guy named George who’s causing her butterflies in the stomach and you’ll get a
elegant, hilaric and bittersweet story that’s called Paradise Kiss.
